Day-1. DEPARTURE CITY – TUNIS: Overnight flight to Tunis.
Day-2. TUNIS: Arrive in Tunisia in the early afternoon.Transfer to your hotel. After a refreshment break, join your tour director for a walking tour of Medina and the main sites such as El Attire Souk, Souk El Kumach, Mirada Medressa, Ez-Zitouna Mosque, and Dar El-Bey.
Day-3. CARTHAGE – TUNIS: On a guided tour visit the ruins of ancient Carthage, the third-largest city in the Roman Empire. Continue to Bardo Museum. It is the second most important museum in Africa. It traces the history of Tunisia over several millennia and across several civilizations through a wide variety of archaeological pieces. It is famous for its collection of ancient Roman mosaics. At the end of the day, visit the cliff village of Sidi Bou Said. Enjoy the amazing view over the bay, buy souvenirs and have some sweets in the coffee shops.
Day-4. TUNIS – KAIROUAN – TOZEUR: Travel to Kairouan, to visit the Great Mosque Sidi Okba, the masterpiece of Islamic Architecture, the Aghlabite Pools, an excellent display of hydraulic engineering, and the Sidi Sahbi Mausoleum. Enjoy some free time before going on to the Tunisian Desert and the town of Tozeur. Explore the capital of Tunisian Sahara, the old Mdina, Bir El Hadhar Village, and Dar Cherail.
Day-5. CHEBIKA – TAMERZA – MIDES – DOUZ: Spend a full day in the Tunisian Sahara. First, visit Chebika located in an Oasis built from stone and clay. Then proceed to Tamerza, the former Roman outpost, and the Episcopal office from the Byzant Era. In the afternoon travel to the Ancient Mides and the oasis of Tamerza. Then board the 4 x 4 vehicles for an exciting ride across Chott El Djerid, the largest salt flat in the world. Make a stop to see a natural phenomenon, Stone Roses before reaching the oasis where you will stay in desert tents. After settling in join your tour director on an excursion into the desert riding the camels. The camel ride takes about an hour and takes you into the desert and back. Listen to the science of the Sahara and stories from the Bedouins.
Day-6. MATMATA – SFAX – EL JEM – HAMMAMET: Travel to Matmata fabulous underground Berber village, used in the movie Star Wars and Raiders of Lost Ark. Then to El Jem to walk through the corridors of the second-largest Colosseum in the world. End the day in Hammamet and your beach hotel.
Day-7. HAMMAMET: Relax for the day in this exciting resort town. Visit the local market, or take the optional tour to Nabeul, the largest pottery and camel market in Africa, or just relax at the swimming pool.
Day-8. TUNIS – ROME: Fly to Rome and start with a guided tour of Ancient Rome led by a local English-speaking guide. See the Colosseum, the Arch of Titus, the Arch of Constantine, Forum Romanum, Trajan’s Forum, the Campidoglio, Victor Emmanuel Monument, and more. In the evening, join your tour director on a walking tour to Trevi Fountain and enjoy a real Italian gelato.
Day-9. ROME: Visit the State of Vatican. Start the guided tour with a visit to the Vatican Museum. Continue to the Sistine Chapel with the ceiling painted by Michelangelo and go on to St. Peter’s Basilica, the largest Catholic church in the world. Admire Michelangelo’s masterpiece La Pieta, Glory by Bernini, and more. Also, visit the Catacombs of St. Peter’s Church. In the afternoon, visit the sites of Baroque Rome. See Piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Pinzio Hill, and the Spanish Steps.
Day-10. ROME – DEPARTURE: Transfer to the airport for your return flight.

MATMATA is a small Berber town in Tunisia. The Star Wars, and The Riders of the Lost Ark movies were partially filmed there. The structure of the homes is called troglodyte. First, they dig a big pit in the ground and then they dig rooms around it. People still live there, with some improvement. The building style makes air conditioning obsolete because it keeps the heat of the day and the cold of the night out. You just must visit it.
