Day-1. ATHENS – DELPHI: Arrive in Athens and board your bus for a ride along the Greek mainland to reach Ithea, a lovely town located on the shore of the Corinthian Sea.
Day-2. DELPHI – OLYMPIA: In the morning take a short ride to nearby Delphi for a guided tour. Delphi is a world-renown site from early Greek history and the most celebrated place for Ancient Greeks. Delphi is the site of the original Pythian Games. It was a meeting place for poets, philosophers, writers, and politicians. First, visit the Archaeological Museum where the local tour guide will tell you the story of this magic place. The best artifacts from the site are stored in the museum. Walk on with the local guide and see the Temple of Apollo, Delphic Senate, Arcades, the Club of Knidians, and more. Board your bus and cross the bridge over the Gulf of Corinth to reach Olympia for overnight.
Day-3. OLYMPIA – TOLO: Go for a guided tour of Ancient Olympia, the original site of the first Olympic Games in 776 BC. Visit the remains of the Gymnasium, and see the columns of the Wrestling School. Visit the Temple of Hera where the Olympic flame originates before being taken to the site of all the modern Olympic Games. You will also have the chance to race on the site of the original track field. Continue by your bus along the coast and cross the Central Peloponnese to reach the seaside town of Tolo for the overnight.
Day-4. TOLO – NAFPLION: In the morning join your tour director for an excursion to Nafplion. For a brief period of time, it was the capital of Greece. It is located just 10 km from Tolo. Visit the Palamidi Fortress built by Venetians in the 17th century to fight off the Turks. Start with a challenging climb of 857 steps to the Palamidi Fortress with your tour director. You can go up by your bus, enjoy the magnificent view and then go down by steps. In Nafplion enjoy a walking tour through the former Ottoman Area, port, and the fish market. Free afternoon in the beach village of Tolo.
Day-5. TOLO – ARGOLIS – ATHENS: Journey through the Peloponnese. Stop in Epidaurus to visit the beautifully preserved and acoustically perfect ancient theatre. This huge theatre, known for its symmetry and beauty, was used for dramatic performances and orators. The theatre’s acoustic design provided near-perfect intelligibility of an unamplified spoken word from the proscenium or skene to all 15,000 spectators, regardless of their seating. Continue by your bus to Mycenae for a guided tour of the remains of the Palace of King Agamemnon. Enter the palace through the Lion’s Gate the well-known example of Bronze age architecture. It was excavated in 1874 by Heinrich Schliemann the German amateur archaeologist who also discovered the ruins of Troy. Mycenaean’s true greatness came during the Late Bronze Age (1400-1200 BC) when it was a strong center of military and economic power. Continue to Athens and stop at the Corinth Bridge. The bridge goes over the man-made canal between the Saronic and Corinth Gulfs. Go on to Athens and your centrally located hotel for the overnight.
Day-6. ATHENS: During your morning guided city tour by bus first visit the Acropolis. Climb up the hill and see the Temple of Athena Nike, Parthenon, and Erechtheum. Continue by bus to Constitution Square which is the heartbeat of the city. Enjoy taking photos at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and go on to Omonia Square. Stop at the 2000 years old Stadium. On your bus tour, you will also see the Library, Academia, and the University as well as the Cathedral of St. Denis the main Catholic Church of Athens. Also, see the Henry Schliemann house.
Day-7. ATHENS: Optional visit with your tour guide to the Archaeological Museum of Athens. The museum hosts an amazing collection of artifacts from the early Greek civilization. Continue with a walking tour to Monastiraki and Plaka. Enjoy free time and shopping.
Day-8. DEPARTURE: Transfer to the airport for your flight home.
