The price is based on 30 paying travelers and 5 free chaperones. For smaller independent groups we will adjust the price. The ratio for free chaperones stays at 1/6. The lowest number of paying participants for an independent group is 10.

ZAGREB, PLITVICE LAKES, OPATIJA, ZADAR, THE ISLAND OF KORCULA, DUBROVNIK, TROGIR, SPLIT

Day-1. DEPARTURE CITY – ZAGREB: Overnight flight to Zagreb.

Day-2. ZAGREB: Arrive in Zagreb and transfer to your centrally located hotel. After a short break, join your tour director on a walking tour of this old city. See Jelacic Square – the center of public life, walk along Zrinjevac Park, and more. Dinner and overnight.

 Day-3. ZAGREB – VARAZDIN: Start with a guided bus tour of the city. Continue on a guided walking tour. Visit/See Jelacic Square, Church of St. Mark with its unique roof tiles, St. Stephen Cathedral,  Dolac Market – the “belly of Zagreb,” National Theatre, Bloody Bridge, Upper Town, Lotrscak Tower, and Mirogoj Cemetery. In the afternoon go for a bus excursion to Varazdin. It is a baroque city famous for baroque music festivals and good restaurants. Have dinner in one of the traditional restaurants. Late return to Zagreb for the overnight.

Day-4. ZAGREB – PLITVICE LAKES – ZAGREB: Go for a bus excursion to Plitvice Lakes. The national park is world-famous for its lakes arranged in cascades. There are sixteen lakes separated by natural dams of travertine, which is deposited by the action of mossalgae, and bacteria. The lakes are renowned for their distinctive colors, ranging from azure to green, grey, or blue. The colors change constantly depending on the number of minerals or organisms in the water and the angle of sunlight. Enjoy the walking tour and lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon, return to Zagreb and have free time for shopping and exploring. Buy yourself a dinner in one of the numerous restaurants. Overnight.

Day-5. RIJEKA – OPATIJA – ZADAR: Board your bus and travel to Rijeka, the biggest port on the Croatian Adriatic coast. Like everything else in Croatia, the city had changed masters many times during history. Have a guided city tour of the “European City of Culture.” Proceed to Opatija, the coastal tourist resort established as a winter resort for European aristocracy in the 19th century. Go for a walking tour and have free time to buy lunch. In the afternoon board your bus and travel to Zadar for dinner and overnight.

Day-6. ZADAR – WATERFALLS OF THE RIVER KRKA: Start with a city tour of this historic place. Zadar is the oldest continuously inhabited city in Croatia. It started in the late Stone Age and goes on till today. Visit/see: remains of the Roman Forum. St Donat Church from the 9thcentury, city walls with its Landward Gate, Cathedral of St. Anastasia, Sea Organ, and more. The Sea Organ is a new architectural sound art object. It is an experimental musical instrument, which plays music by way of sea waves and tubes located underneath a set of large marble steps. Continue by bus to the Waterfalls of the river Krka. Stop for a visit and go on to your coastal hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day-7. DELTA OF THE RIVER NERETVA – OREBIC – THE ISLAND OF KORCULA (THE BIRTHPLACE OF MARCO POLO) – OREBIC: Travel by bus to the Delta of the River Neretva famous for its plantations of oranges and vineyards. Have a guided visit to the Museum of Antique Nerona and Augusteum. Board typical Neretva boats and go for a ride to Norin. Have lunch and continue by bus to Orebic. Check in to your hotel and go by boat to visit Korcula. Have a guided walking tour of this walled city considered to be the birthplace of Marco Polo. Return to Orebic for dinner and overnight.

Day-8. OREBIC – DUBROVNIK – OREBIC: Board your bus for an excursion to Dubrovnik. Enjoy a guided city tour of this old walled city. Dubrovnik – the Republic of Ragusa was established as a free self-ruled state in 1272. In the year 1317, the first pharmacy was opened, and it is still in use today. The city flourished during the time of the Renaissance. In 1808 Napoleon’s army abolished the republic and Dubrovnik became a part of Italy then Austrian Empire then Yugoslavia and finally Croatia. Visit/see the Museum of Dubrovnik, Stradun – the main artery of the city,  Minceta Tower, the Old Port, Gruz Port, and the fish and veggie market. Take a unique walking tour along ramparts massive walls (high over 66 feet) and watchtowers that surround this great city. Visit some great souvenir shops along Stradun. On the way back to Orebic stop in Ston to admire one of the longest medieval walls in Europe. Return to Orebic for dinner and overnight.

Day-9. TROGIR: Board your bus to go to Trogir. Enjoy a guided walking tour of the city. Visit/see the historical city core, the city gate, and walls (15thcentury AD), fortress Kamerlengo, the Duke’s Palace, the Cathedral, and more. Overnight and dinner.

Day-10. TROGIR – SPLIT – TROGIR:  Travel by bus to Split and start with a walking guided city tour of Split. Visit the palace of the Roman Emperor Diocletian built-in AD 305. Walk along the Lungo Mare and have a gelato in one of the numerous coffee shops. Climb to the peak of Marijan hill for a view of the city and the harbor. Drive back to Trogir for dinner and overnight

Day-11. SPLIT – DEPARTURE: Transfer to the airport in Split for your flight home.

PAYMENT POLICY:

A down payment of $300.00 for the tours in 2024 is due before July 31st, 2023, and for the trips in 2025 before July 31st, 2024.

Up to 10 payments per request.

The down payment is not refundable.

The number of participants, the ratio, and the price can be changed according to request.

 

INSURANCE – optional.
Includes trip cancellation, lost baggage, trip interruption, and medical insurance. It will be added to your first payment.
Price for students to be calculated.
Adults based on age.

If your group or any individuals from your group do not accept this insurance, the group leader must inform E&L GROUP TOURS USA in writing.

All individuals traveling with E&L GROUP TOURS USA must show proof of valid travel insurance.

Gratuities optional – suggested $2.5 per day per person for the tour director and $5.00 per person per day for the local tour guide.
